Photo Finish / Hold That Pose!!!

A more realistic interpretation of My Little Pony's Photo Finish. She's usually presented as one of the eldest and more serious ponies, a professional fashion photographer, but I decide to portray her as a young playful happy girl instead. (She not always was Vogue Magazine's Chief Editor, you know;) ).

I have made this illustration starting with a hand made pencil sketch, the usual way. Then scanned and imported into Clip Studio Paint.

The sketch is then retraced using the G-pen tool. Now I have all sections of the image as independent paths, and I can use them to select and fill large areas of the image with specific colors.

I decided to complete her face first for obvious reasons: in this positions, all lights and volume are reversed, which makes the illustration a bit complicated.

There's no much to say about her hair, except is just a bunch of lines traced following the hair’s natural movement. Use darker paint for shadows, lighter for bright areas, that’s all.

The glasses are just a lot of brown, black and white spots combined to create a gold-like texture. Time to work on her clothes. Since it is a white T-shirt, it is pretty fast to color.

Photo Finish is know for her stripped shirt, so I added a few dark lines on top with a 70% opacity layer. This allows the volume and shadows of the shirt to be visible over the dark stripes.

Lens camera looks complicated? Actually, is just a bunch of concentric circles.

Finally is time to finish her hands. Since fingers are covered by the camera lens, I don't need to waste time with details, just add enough volume and shadows.

Final light and shadow touches are added. Photo Finish's scarf is the only remaining element to complete.

Final shadows, some minor details and retouches are added to complete the figure.

I cropped the image to give it a more "close-up feeling". If you didn't noticed it yet, the initial sketch was created using a golden spiral. I expanded the canvas while working on it just to be sure I have plenty of space to work with.

And that's all!!! This is the final art. Thank you for your time ;)
