Kudasai: The Room

A 3D illustration for the graphic novel Kudasai. This image depicts an ER while the main character agonizes. The model was posed and rendered in Poser, then exported to Photoshop to add final filters. 3D bed and props are from Renderosity artist Ziggie.

One of the main advantages of Poser is you can place and set your scene almost instantly. Just click on each prop to load, manipulate a bit the dials to set up your scene, and presto!

I don't want to give you the false impression that Poser is an almighty magical software. If you just load your characters into the scenario, they will look like... 3D plastic dolls. For that reason, I've dedicated some time to manipulate the dials.

Even the best human model looks too artificial if your lights ain't appropriate for your scene. In this case, I've placed over 30 little green and white light spots around the girl's body to create a spooky atmosphere.

When all pieces are in position, and the light effect is Ok, I made a final render. In Photoshop, I add a blur filter around the main figure.

I use a Photoshop brush to add several blood stains around the main figure. I could do it directly on Poser, on the bed's texture map, but using Photoshop instead allows me to paint them directly in the exact spot where I want them.
